We sing lots of silly songs in our family. We often make up new words to songs – making up a new song to match the immediate situation. It’s something I learned from my mother, and have done my whole life. Now my wife and kids do it. We have even had real back-and-forth conversations entirely in common songs with words improvised on the spot. Today I made up a new one featuring Darth Vader (a common guest in our family music). We have been singing Christmas music this week:

Must Be Vader

By jflatnote
(Sung to the tune of Must Be Santa)

Who’s got a saber glowing red?
Vader’s got a saber glowing red.
Who chokes people ’til they’re dead?
Vader chokes people ’til they’re dead.

Choked ’til dead, Glowing red.

Must be Vader.  Must be Vader.
Must be Vader, the Sith Lord.

Who learned to fight from Obi Wan?
Vader learned to fight from from Obi Wan?
Who hunted Jedi one-by-one?
Vader hunted Jedi one-by-one.

One-by-one, Obi Wan.
Choked ’til dead, Glowing red.

Must be Vader.  Must be Vader.
Must be Vader, the Sith lord.

Who built the Death Star out in space?
Vader built the Death Star out in space.
Who took lava in the face?
Vader took lava in the face.

Lava face, Out in space.
One-by-one, Obi Wan.
Choked ’til dead, Glowing red.

Must be Vader.  Must be Vader.
Must be Vader, the Sith lord.

Who’s so ugly that he hid?
Vader’s so ugly that he he hid.
Who got beat down by a kid?
Vader got beat down by a kid.

Beat by kid, That he hid.
Lava face, Out in space.
One-by-one, Obi Wan.
Choked ’til dead, Glowing red.

Must be Vader. Must be Vader.
